St. Peter’s & St. Paul’s Orthodox Syrian Church is the 101st Orthodox Church in the Trivandrum Diocese of Malankara Orthodox Church and the 6th Orthodox Church in Trivandrum City.

The need for an Orthodox Church at Vattiyoorkavu was put forward at the Managing Committee meeting held on March 12, 1989 at St. George Orthodox Church, Palayam by Mr. A. Abraham (Gregory Villa), George Varghese Cheriath, Thomas Varghese Koledath and other 70 signatories who were the earlier settlers in and around Vattiyoorkavu, Thirumala, PTP Nagar etc.

The church from then on started growing rapidly and it had become one of the prominent churches in Trivandrum City. On July 16, 1992 the church acquired 45 and half cents of land at Nettayam to build its cemetery. The completed church was consecrated on June 28th and 29th by the then Metropolitan of Malankara Orthodox Church, H. G. Mathews Mar Coorilos and along with H. G. Joseph Mar Paukomios and H. G. Geevarghese Mar Dioscoros.

One of the church members, Sri. George Varghese Cheriath in fond remembrance of his parents, had built a Kurishin Thotti which was later concentrated by the then Metropolitan of Trivandrum Diocese H. G. Geevarghese Mar Dioscorus on October 30, 1994...
